CHILDCARE
"A comprehensive Family-Care Center serving Children from birth to age five and the people who love them"

ONL's caring, licensed professionals strive to nurture the whole child and, by extension, the whole family. We offer State accredited services that focus on five key developmental areas; socio-emotional, physical, cognitive, language and creativity. Our age-appropriate, child-centered curriculum is thoughtfully designed to challenge and inspire young minds. Organized play time fosters social skills, interaction and creativity. Wholesome meals and snacks nourish growing bodies and encourage the early development of life long, healthy eating habits.

Children who come to ONL happily thrive in our safe, vibrant, warm and loving environment. And parents who entrust their children to us have an invaluable peace of mind while they are away because they know the love, security, and care we provide mirrors their own.
Our mission is to develop healthy, happy, academically prepared children who are ready to enter kindergarten with the skills they need to reach their full potential. We chose to focus on the kindergarten readiness because this is what most parents really want. "Academically-focused family-care" might be a new concept, but it meets the needs for both parents and schools.
At ONL, we introduce "Green", "Earth Friendly" and “Healthy Living” concepts and habits to children and parents as well. We will expand our “Family Care Center” to K-8 charter school in the future. At ONL, we believe in building better tomorrows for children and families today. ONL serves the needs of parents by providing excellent care kindergarten readiness. We are a true community partner. ONL is a “value add” to parents and community schools.

For Parents:
• We offer advanced programs that include kids of all socio-economic backgrounds.
• We offer free summer camp opportunities for children between the ages of 6 and 13.
For Schools:
• Children arrive at kindergarten ready to learn. For example our local public school district suggest kindergarten students master skills such as the following:

High Frequency Words
Major Math Concepts and Skills

Students should be able to read, write and spell correctly a core set of words that are frequently encountered in grade level text. By the end of kindergarten, students should be able to correctly spell the following words:
a, am, an, and, at, can, come, do, go, he, I, in, is, it, like, me, my, no, see, so, the, to, up, we, you
.

Numbers 0-30: how to count; read; write; compare; estimate; solve problems
Calendar: days; weeks; months; seasons
Shapes: identify; name; draw; compare

Health Education

Kindergartners participate in a social skills development program called Second Step, a program designed to develop positive skills in impulse control and anger management while learning about empathy toward others. They explore the importance of nutrition and physical activity for healthy growth and development. They also learn personal safety rules for development of healthy relationships.
Teachers provide instruction so that students can:

• demonstrate the ability to accept and act on personal responsibilities
• prevent illness and maintain good physical health
• observe pedestrian safety measures
• get help in an emergency
• recognize and respond appropriately to bullying, teasing and aggressive behaviors
• choose nutritious foods and beverages which help them grow
• increase daily physical activity and learn to take medicines properly.
ONL CDC employs teaching methods that will introduce students to these skill sets before student’s reaches kindergarten.
